We are looking for an experienced Managing Director to take our company to the next level of excellence in terms of business operations, financial growth, people and new product development.


The ideal candidate will be an experienced strategist and an appreciative leader able to steer the company to the most sustainable direction (sustainability in terms of people, profit and impact) while also refining its vision, mission and long term goals.


This is a remote subcontractor position.
Location: Flexible within Ontario, Canada.
Work hours: 30 to 40hrs/week. The exact hours will be negotiated depending on the strengths and interests of the chosen candidate.
Compensation range: CAD$72,000 to $86,000 (depending on the hours, strengths and expertise of the chosen candidate) plus flexible vacation time (to be negotiated), optional benefits and a yearly bonus that is dependent on the company’s profitability.


The position will remain open until the ideal candidate is found.

Areas of responsibility

Strategic Direction

Working with the CEO and team, develop a strategic business plan that ensures activities undertaken support the ongoing growth and sustainability of the company.


Operational Planning and HR Management

Direct the company’s operations and give strategic guidance and direction to the team to ensure that the company achieves its goal of sustainability.


Ensure the company’s organizational structure, processes, people requirements, resources and work are properly managed and distributed.


Oversee the ongoing development and implementation of systems, policies and procedures to ensure that the company operates as efficiently as possible.


Develop and maintain Total Quality Management systems throughout the company to ensure that the best possible products and services are provided to customers.


Talent recruitment and retention is critical for any company’s success. Attracting, onboarding, and developing new team members might become a key responsibility to ensure the company’s mission and objectives can be achieved.


Complete quarterly reviews with each team member taking a strengths-based approach and help manage personnel files.


Work with our Chief Financial Officer to prepare an annual financial budget (including updating revenue targets), and monitor progress against the budget to ensure that the company attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.


Explore other revenue generating opportunities including the application for funding (e.g., grants, government funding, and incentives to name a few examples).


Help develop and maintain research and development programs to ensure that the company remains at the forefront in the industry, applies the most cost-effective methods and approaches, provides leading-edge products and services and retains its competitive edge.


Marketing and Stakeholder Relations

Spearhead the improvement of our existing marketing and public relations strategy to promote the products, services and image of the company in the wider community.


Establish and maintain effective formal and informal links with major customers, relevant government departments and agencies, local authorities, key decision-makers and other stakeholders generally, to exchange information and views and to ensure that the company is providing the appropriate range and quality of services.


Represent the company in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key contacts as needed to secure for it the most effective contract terms.


Miscellaneous Responsibilities

Identify gaps and carry out other management and director-level responsibilities as needed to support the existing operations while maximizing opportunities for growth.


Willing to take initiative and jump in to support the team when needed.


    • At least 5 years’ senior level experience managing people and resources
    • Graduate level degree, preferably in business or an equivalent amount of experience
    • An understanding of financial management and wider management principles and techniques
    • Change management experience
    • Experience, enthusiasm and interest in working in a start-up environment and helping us reach the next level
    • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented and dedication to continuous improvement
    • Excellent strategic thinking, analytical and creative problem-solving skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Deep understanding of appreciative inquiry, positive psychology, solution-focused coaching and/or similar approaches to leadership, communications and interpersonal relationships
    • Excellent relationship track record as demonstrated by personal references (including at least one past employer and one subordinate)
    • Experience collaborating with remote teams
    • Experience researching and writing funding applications
    • Experience in the facilitation/events/meeting industry would be an asset

Paid internship opportunity for Inuit and Inuvialuit youth, ages 18-30 Neolé is a Canadian company that designs, produces and facilitates virtual meetings. We use video conferencing and other technology to bring people together to talk, learn and collaborate. 
To support our virtual projects in the North, we are hiring an intern. During this internship, interns will learn:
    • How to facilitate virtual meetings
    • Two software products that we use in virtual meetings
    • Backend support skills for Zoom meetings and webinars
Our team is entirely remote, meaning that the intern can work remotely from wherever they are.
This paid internship is for 50 hours and has a flexible work schedule. The internship may grow into part-time positions with Neolé, for the right person.

Matias has more than 20 years of experience working in construction, 14 years of experience as a dad, 11 years of experience as an uncle, 10 years as a helpful Canadian neighbour and handy-man, and a lifetime of experience as a monkey.
